It was wonderful to have Dr. Adam Davis visit us here at Xavier University to share with students and faculty the opportunity to participate in their summer institute. Our colleague, Dr. KiTani A. Parker-Johnson in the Biology Department, arranged to have Dr. Davis come to Xavier to open the door for students to participate in the joint Harvard-MIT Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics (BIG) Summer Institute and for faculty to establish collaborative projects with faculty at the National Center for Biomedical Research, more affectionately referred to as the i2b2 or Informatics for Integrating Biology & the Bedside, a National Center for Biomedical Computing and a Harvard Medical School affiliate.

Dr. Joel Oppenheim, Senior Associate Dean for Biomedical Sciences; Professor of Microbiology / Director, Sackler Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences, come to Xavier to talk to students about opportunities at NYU. Hear Dr. Oppenheim talk with me about alternative opportunities in biology, chemistry and biochemistry research and education summer programs and where new Ph.D.'s should look now and in the future.
