Dr. Carroll's Notebook

My Office Hours at the NMC conference April 26-27

The singular focus of the NMC Online Conference on Personal Broadcasting, part of the NMC's Series of Online Conferences, is to explore the state of this art, where things are heading, and what might be on the horizon. Areas of study and interest include:

* Creating podcasts and vlog content
* Incorporating personal broadcasting into courses and institutional websites
* Pedagogical applications (and implications)
* Differences between and potential uses of vlogging and podcasting
* Open-source tools
* Incorporation of learning objects within games or vice versa
* Implications for multimedia and web design

MY SLIDES FOR THE NMC CONFERENCE

Dr. Carroll's Notebook

Beg, borrow and steal...some student's last hope.

As I, the students begin to get a bit flustered, a little anxious and somewhat desparate. Sometimes they forget their manners. Those will get their attitudes adjusted in time.

I'm a patient man. And I always have the last word. Been a tough semester for many. The storm took its toll on us physically and mentally. With only a couple of weeks for summer break before we begin again...I expect next semester to be just as challenging. A lot has happened to us since the storm, both good and bad. It's funny how time can fly.

Stanley Clarke - If This Bass Could Only Talk - Funny How Time Flies (When You're Having Fun)

I prefer Stanley Clark's version.
Have to dig up that album (If this Bass Could Only Talk) from my collection. Get it!

My favorite advisee. Big plans for me and bigger plans for herself. Have to plan some work for her to take on that trip to Jamacia.

Dr. Carroll's Notebook

The testing drama continues...

One would like to think that the final exam is just a test of our accumulated knowledge over the past semester. What it usually turns out to be is major hurtle to overcome...standing in the way of maintaining GPAs, passing on to the next level and even graduation. We never seem to learn.

Dave Brubeck - Dave Brubeck: Jazz Collection - Take Five

After finals we can take five (almost literally this semester)...as my friend Dave Brubeck so eloquently sounds off.

Dr. Carroll's Notebook

Testing Drama...100, 50, 30 questions...who's counting?

Getting closer to Finals. Got to test on those last chapters before preparing for the Final CUMMULATIVE Exam. Nerves are frayed and the tension is high. Not to mention how bad the students feel.

Sade - The Best of Sade - Cherish the Day Sade
...need I say more.
